STAR WARS PARTY!!!

When my oldest son was turning 5, he wanted to “use the force” to have a Star Wars party! ***Disclaimer for this party.....This was WAY before I ever knew what a blog was, so I was not attentive to taking lots of detailed pictures...you would have to imagine the details a bit! :0)

Invites:
-Everyone was encouraged to come in a star wars costume and bring light sabers

Decor:
-a friend made a SUPER fabulous Luke Walker (from Return of the Jedi) costume for my son. We took pictures of him in various poses, printed them in various  size, cut them out, and put them everywhere
-Star Wars streamers (from Party City)
-Star Wars toys....my son had tons of action figures, weapons, ships, a Storm Trooper helmet, Happy Meal Star Wars toys, etc....so we used all of them to set the mood for the party.

Arrival:
-as kids arrived we had the Star Wars theme song playing loudly on the porch

Activities;
-The kids watched part of my son’s favorite Star Wars movie…they were too wiggly to watch the whole thing. :0)
-My hubby downloaded a fun Jedi training video off of “You Tube”. All of the kids participated in the training in order to become true Jedi.

-This part is funny…we borrowed an adult-sized "Darth Vader" costume from a friend, so that after the Jedi training, Darth Vader could appear and each Jedi could have the chance to battle Vador and defeat the "Dark Side". We discovered right before the party started that the costume did not fit my hubby (so convenient...dear hubby). So I…yes, me....the mama….had to wear the costume, become the villain (complete with heavy breathing), and get beat with a light saber by each and every Jedi at the party! I did earn some “super mom” points that day!!! :0)

-Darth Vader pull-string piñata purchased at Party City

Cake: My son’s name starts with an “X” so I made cupcakes and put them on our dining table in the shape of an “X”. I completed the spelling of his name by cutting the rest of his letters out on a Cricut machine…so his name filled out dining table. I printed mini-movie posters of each Star Wars movie, cut them out, and taped them onto a toothpick, then I put a “poster” on each cupcake. The kids enjoyed picking a cupcake with their favorite Star Wars movie.

Favors: a Darth Vader cup, Yoda Pencil Box, and Star Wars pencil (all found in the $1 bin at Target)
